Welcome to Inspection Microscopes

Need to inspect circuit boards for doing repair and soldering, do quality control inspection of small machined parts, or examine microstructures of metallic surfaces? Welcome to the Internet website for Inspection Microscopes. We are your source for quality microscopy equipment used for inspecting, measuring, and quality control checks. Our microscopes fit into a wide variety of applications finding usefulness in metallurgical laboratories, quality control stations, circuit board inspection and repair facilities and more.

Need video microscopy for your inspection microscope? We can provide you a complete video solution for your inspecting needs. We have USB microscope cameras that connect to your laptop computer via USB cord and display the full video image on the computer screen. They can also capture digital still images during the inspection process. We also carry the classic style of CCD cameras that output an NTSC or PAL video format signal for display on a CCTV monitor. Whatever your needs are for video microscopy and digital imaging, we can assist.

What is an inspection microscope? What type of inspecting equipment is used for my application? In general, any optical instrument that magnifies the image could be considered as such. The idea is that the specimen to be viewed needs to be checked under an instrument that magnifies. Some quality control laboratories are checking solder joints in circuit boards, welding cross sections, metallurgical grain structures from the heat treating process, surface defects in manufactured parts, and a host of other needs. Our most commonly sold inspection microscope consists of our video microscopy system capable of zoom magnification and display to a CCTV monitor or computer. It is coupled with a microscope camera for the quality control lab technician to image the specimen on a screen. The zoom magnification allows the technician to turn a knob and increase or decrease the image as seen on the screen. For looking at larger specimens, such as sizeable portions of a circuit board or for three dimensional specimens requiring greater depth of field, a stereo microscope may be used. For microanalysis of metallurgical structures, a metallurgical microscope is required in order to get the high power magnifications needed to see the grain structure. For lower power applications with shiny or highly reflective surfaces, a fiber optic illumination system with a polarizing filter may be needed. We have illumination systems with both polarizer and analyzer filters allowing cross polarization providing maximum contrast in imaging on shiny surfaces. For example, the examination of a shiny stainless steel surface may need polarized light in order to bring out the surface defects and features that would be bleached out using normal incident light.

We employ highly skilled sales representatives in the engineering and biological sciences.
